History

History of the company UNIS Power is dated back to 1814 when Jan Reiff and his associates Mr. August and Bedrich Scholl and Kristián Memmert founded První brněnská strojírna (PBS). Already in 1824 first steam engine including steam boiler was built in this company. Some other historical milestones:

  • 1946 the company was nationalized, První brněnská and Královopolská strojírna were established
  • 1955 the company took over the production of boilers from ZVU Hradec Králové
  • 1956 a national centre for research and development of steam boilers was established
  • 1965 PBS became part of ŠKODA Group
  • 1993 ABB entered the company and ABB Energy Systems was established
  • 2002 ALSTOM bought the company and ALSTOM Power was established
  • 2005 the company becomes part of Austrian Energy group and AE & E CZ is founded
  • 2011 production of the power equipment is transferred to Babcock Borsig Steinmuller group and subsequently Bilfinger Babcock CZ is introduced
  • 2017 return back to the Czech ownership through UNIS group owner under the new name of UNIS Power, s.r.o.

During its history the company has been supplying to number of heat and power plants in the Czech Republic, for example to ČEZ a.s. (Ledvice, Mělník), or to a number of district heating and/or industrial plants, for example in Brno, Prague, Plzeň, Ostrava, Litvínov, Ústí n.L. and many others.

The company has also many references abroad where a large number of projects can be found in the countries such as Peru, Iraq, Iran, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Syria, Turkey, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Hungary, Poland, Austria , Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, Finland, Great Britain and many others.
